About Curaçao
Of the ABC islands, Curaçao is the largest. It is located in the Caribbean Sea and is part of the Leeward Islands. The locals speak Dutch and Papiamento. Curaçao is six hours behind the Netherlands and five hours behind during the winter. Curaçao is an excellent holiday destination all year round. The peak season is from January to March. If you prefer a quieter period, it’s best to visit Curaçao in May, June, or between September and mid-December.
Naturist Beaches
There are no official nude beaches on Curaçao. Topless sunbathing is officially prohibited, but it is tolerated on most major beaches. However, there are secluded coves where naturism is possible on weekdays when it’s quiet.
Attractions in Curaçao
Curaçao is a paradise for divers and snorkellers, with coral reefs, tropical fish, and crystal-clear waters. It’s even possible to swim with dolphins! If you prefer culture, visit the colourful Handelskade in Willemstad or take a tour of one of the country estates to learn more about the colonial history with the Netherlands. Nature lovers can explore the unique Hato Caves or the Christoffel Park, which boasts unique flora and fauna. This national park features several walking trails.
Food and Drink
The local cuisine offers delicious stews made with goat (kabritu stoba) or beef (karni stoba). Many types of fish caught in the waters around Curaçao also feature on the menu. Barracuda, tuna, and dorado are commonly available. Some restaurants even organise special lobster nights where you can enjoy fresh lobster at a reasonable price. Prefer pizza or chips? That’s possible too! Curaçao has a wide variety of international cuisines, ranging from Chinese and Japanese to Brazilian and Argentinian.
